WinZip (A Useful tool): While working on the computer system, in almost every type of set up, you surely would find the need to use WinZip software some or the other time to compress large sized files. This helps in speedy transfer of data via emails and other modes like online chat. You can also transfer huge & bulky files/folders quickly from one system to another using USB or other storage drives with the help of this compression facility, which saves your time greatly. The process of zipping and unzipping the files/folders is very quick and highly secure. Moreover, this also saves your download time and even helps in encrypting and decrypting documents containing sensitive information. Zip Files: The compressed files, formed using WinZip software, generally have .ZIP extension. These Zip files mainly use MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) media type application or Zip. Corruption (Errors Observed in Zip Files): Due to some internet problems, you can observe certain errors in your Zip files, which generally occur while downloading these Zip files, leads to their corruption. As a result, the data stored in these Zip files can become inaccessible to you. A Possible Scenario: Imagine a situation, where you tried to open a .Zip file after downloading it from a MS Windows SharePoint Services document library and you get an error message stating: “Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again.” You Zip file data become inaccessible after this error message appears. Possible Cause: The abovementioned situation may occur when the HTTP compression is turned on in the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Web Sites properties on the SharePoint virtual server. Consequently, when you download the Zip file, IIS encodes it as GZIP and the browser client forwards it directly to the unZip program, without GZIP decoding the file.Restore from Backup (A Solution to the Problem): If you are experiencing such problem of data inaccessibility due to corrupted Zip files, then there is a way you can get back your data and i.e. by restoring the data from a recent backup file. However, if you had forgotten to create or never maintained a backup or your backup also has got corrupted, then in that problematic scenario, you can get a third-party  Zip File Repair Tool to repair damage Zip file. BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) are boot firmware that completely identifies tests and initializes computer system devices. To optimize the system performance, you should customize your BIOS settings. It largely depends upon how feature-rich your system BIOS is. Generally, BIOS of professional systems as of 3D Graphics Designers, Visual Effects creators and above all extreme Gaming workstations is far more feature-rich and customizable than standard systems. However, changes made in system BIOS can result as serious issues if they are not configured properly. In most cases, improper change in system BIOS settings results as an error message (viz. inappropriate boot sequence configuration).

Such error messages further result as un bootable system and even partition corruption due to repetitive hard disk scans of CHKDSK. It causes complete inaccessibility of your critical data. In such situations, for complete restoration of affected partition’s data, you need to format the partition and use updated data backup to restore the lost files. In case of no backup availability, Partition Recovery software comes to rescue. You may encounter the below error message when you attempt to start your Windows XP based system: “Operating system not found.” You receive another error message when you try to repair the operating system using Recovery Console as: “Setup did not find any hard drives installed on your computer.” After any of the above error messages appears, the booting process gets halted and files saved in the hard drive become inaccessible.

Cause :

Few main reasons for the occurrence of above error messages are:

Solution :

To resolve the problem and access the hard drive data, you need to follow these steps:

However, if all the above steps fall short to resolve the issue, the best option available is to perform a clean operating system reinstall in the same partition. A clean reinstall of the operating system erases all data from the partition. In such data loss situations, you should use advanced Partition Recovery Software. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most efficient Partition Recovery tool. It provides complete recovery and restoration of lost files in all possible cases of logical data loss. It is compatible with FAT16, FAT32, vFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. This read only Partition Recovery Software supports Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000.

As the technology advances, computers are getting much faster by the day. As compared to early computer systems, modern systems boot so fast that they attempt to auto-detect the hard drive. Before the hard drive is ready, operating system starts. In such situations, if hard drive is failing, problems might go undetected. If system BIOS is taking sufficient time to initialize the hard drive, probable issues could be related to hard drive or mere BIOS settings. In some of the critical situations, you might need to replace the hard drive and restore lost data from backup. But when backup raises corruption or unavailability issues, it necessitates the use of Hard Disk Recovery solutions.

You might receive the below mentioned error message while attempting to start your system:

“Hard Disk Initializing; Please wait a moment…”

If you encounter this message, but the boot process proceeds as normal, you need not to correct or perform any task. But if system hangs after this error message occurs, hard disk needs to be troubleshot.

To solve hard disk issues, you should consider these recommendations:

Ntdetect.com is a Windows NT component that is used by operating system while boot process. The file is included in Windows NT through Windows XP, 2003 and Vista, operating on x86 architecture. NTLDR loads Ntdetect.com to determine the basic hardware information. This information is further passed to Windows Kernel (Ntoskrnl.exe) and the boot process proceeds. If you experience any interruption while the process, the system fails to boot. You get errors suggesting that boot process has not succeeded. To solve such problems, you might need to reformat the hard drive and use your recent data backup available in order to restore the lost information. But sometimes, the data backup cannot give the required results due to constraints like damage, unavailability or incompleteness. Thus, you will require to use Data Recovery applications that can locate and restore such data.

When you try to boot a Windows based computer system, the process might fail with the following error on screen:

“NTDetect Failed”

You cannot boot the system at subsequent attempts of booting the system and consequently, cannot access the stored data.

Cause

As suggested by the error message, you encounter the above issue when Ntdetect.com fails to perform the expected task. It primarily occurs if the file is damaged or missing.

Solution

To solve the existing issue, you need to use Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) to repair Windows installation that can replace the startup system files. ERD is a special-purposed bootable disk that includes all the Windows registry and system files required to boot the system. If you don’t have an ERD, you can proceed anyway or reinstall Windows. To use ERD to repair Windows, follow these steps:

Boot the system using Windows CD-ROM and select ‘R’ at ‘Welcome to Setup’ menu screen.

Next, you need to opt for ‘Manual Repair’

From the repair options thus displayed, you need to select ‘Startup Environment’

Insert the ERD, when prompted for or proceed anyway

Remove the ERD and restart the system

If applying the above measures doesn’t help, you should reinstall Windows and restore lost data from backup. In case of any backup issues, you need to use Data Recovery Software for recovering logically lost data. Hard drive recovery tools examine the drive and provide safe recovery with graphically rich user interface.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a comprehensive Data Recovery Software that supports Windows 7 RC1, Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000. It is an advanced recovery application with three most powerful drive features: Drive Status, Disk Cloning and Disk Imaging. The application supports FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system drives.

An unbootable Linux system can be a result of superblock corruption. A superblock is a an integral part of Linux file system, which saves information related to file system. Corruption in superblock primarily occurs due to improper system shutdown, virus infection, and file system damage. In such cases, the data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible. To overcome such situations, the user needs to use a valid backup to restore data or perform repair using e2fsck function. However, if the measures fail to resolve corruption, then only third-party Data Recovery Linux application can help.Consider a practical case, where you try to reboot your system after it shuts down due to power failure. While doing so, you encounter:”Checking Filesystems [BUSY]/dev/sda4:The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:e2fsck -b 8193 [FAIL]FILESYSTEM CHECK FAILEDPlease repair manually and reboot. Note that the root file system is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write type: mount -n -o remount,rw /When you exit the maintenance shell the system will reboot automaticallyGive root password for maintenance(or type Control-D to continue)”This error message does not allow the system to boot, leading to inaccessibility of hard drive data.Cause:The error message clearly informs that the superblock is corrupt or damaged.Resolution:To isolate the above error message and to access the hard drive data:•    Try to run e2fsck using an alternate superblock (as suggested in the error message).•    If the resolution does not works, then format your system and re-install Linux operating system. While the latter fails to resolve superblock corruption to make your system bootable, it also deletes the data from the hard drive. If you wish to recover your lost data from a formatted hard drive, then you will need to opt for a commercial Linux Data Recovery application. Such Linux Recovery tools are incorporated with powerful scanning algorithms which provide maximum recovery of all formatted files and folders.Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery is safe Linux Recovery application that is used to recover lost files after formatting. Compatible with Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, and FAT file systems, the read only software is compatible with almost all kinds of hard drives, including IDE, EIDE, SATA, and more.

File system (FAT or NTFS) installed on a Windows-based hard drive is a database that saves all critical information related to every file stored on the hard drive. Corruption in file system is one of the most common factors of inaccessibility of data saved in the hard drive. Few reasons for file system corruption are unexpected system shutdown, virus attack, application malfunction, and operating system damage. In most cases of file system damage, a Windows user encounters an error message that halts the boot process of Windows.

To overcome such error messages and to overcome file system damage, the user needs to use an inbuilt repair utility named ‘CHKDSK’. While this utility is helpful in repairing file system, there are a few cases when it fails to repair. In such situations, data can only be accessed by restoring it from an updated backup. But, in case of no backup or deficient backup, the user needs to use a powerful Hard Drive Recovery Software.

Consider a real-time scenario wherein you encounter the below error message while trying to boot your Windows XP system:

“The volume X: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now? The disk in drive X: is not formatted. There was an error accessing drive X:. The disk is not formatted.”

Once the above error message appears, the system becomes unbootable and the hard drive data becomes inaccessible.

Cause:

The root cause for the occurrence of the above error message is corruption in file system.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message, you need to run CHKDSK command. However, the command might also fail, displaying the below error message:

“The type of the filesystem is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.”

To overcome the above CHKDSK failure error message and to boot your Windows XP system, you need to perform a clean reinstall of Windows XP operating system. This allows you to install new file system on your hard drive and also brings your system in a bootable state. However, re-installation also results in complete inaccessibility of all previously saved files and folders saved on your hard drive. To access those files, you need to opt for an advanced Hard Drive Recovery Software. Such Hard Drive Recovery tools are easily available on the Internet.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery assures recovery of all the files and folders post re-installation. Compatible with almost all file systems (NTFS, NTFS5, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and VFAT), the Hard Drive Recovery utility supports Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000 operating systems.

A Windows computer can become unbootable for several reasons, ranging from an improper boot configuration to a corrupted hard drive. The further discussion presents a specific example of such problems and also the possible way to Recover Hard Drive. If it has been a hard drive related issue, chances are that you may lose all your data, which further necessitates you to apply your previous backup.

For clarifying boot-related problems in Windows, let’s consider the below mentioned error message that might appear when you try to start your Windows computer:

“Bad or Missing Command Interpreter.”

The error won’t allow you to access the data stored on your hard drive.

Reasons

The above error can occur in various situations, some of which have been mentioned underneath:

The computer tries to boot from a non-bootable diskette or CD present in the drive

Hard drive has not been correctly configured within CMOS

Any of drvspace.bin, command.com, io.sys, or msdos.sys files is either missing or damaged

Hard drive is corrupted- MBR and/or partition table has get damaged

User Action

The solutions to the given problems are as below:

Make sure no diskette or CD is there in your computer when you are attempting to start your computer

Setup the boot options correctly. The right boot sequence is- ‘Floppy’, ‘Hard Drive’, ‘CD-ROM’, and ‘Network

Boot your computer with a floppy diskette with sys.com file on it. Get to A:\> prompt and execute ‘sys c:’ command. Remove the diskette and start your computer

Boot your computer with a Windows repair or install disc. At command prompt, execute ‘/fixmbr’ command. If the issue still continues, the last possible solution is to delete and recreate the hard drive partition(s).

After recreating hard drive partitions if you observe that restoring lost data from previous backup is not possible, a Hard Drive Recovery Software is the solution. Equipped with high-end scanning algorithms, these utilities can Recover Hard Drive data, while keeping the original integrity of original files and folders intact. Furthermore, these tools are effective and safe to use.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a comprehensive solution to recover lost and deleted Windows data from Windows disks. Mac applications are divided into segments and they should have one segment at the minimum. In cases of multiple segments, they permit loading these program parts into memory so that more room for data can be made available in the internal RAM. Segment loader is that component which is responsible for loading these segments into internal RAM. But sometimes, Mac system may display errors that segment loader can’t load the segments. It happens when segment loader faces certain issues while performing its routine tasks.

If you lose data while resolving the issue, availability of an updated data backup is a must. However, if the backup is non-existent, invalid or corrupt, you can use Mac Data Recovery applications. Consider a situation, when you start Mac system and encounter the following error message: “Segment loader error” System fails to boot after this error message. The error message occurs because of segment loader issues.

Cause

The possible reasons behind this issue are:

Solution

If the reason behind the error occurrence is file system inconsistencies, you can follow these steps to recover from it:

If you have upgraded your Mac hard drive, you need to follow these steps:

After following the above steps, the system and data files in the Mac volume will get erased as the file system will no longer be there. In case of issues like missing or corrupt backup, you can use Data Recovery Mac applications to recover your lost data. These are unique tools that incorporate advanced scanning algorithms and analyze affected hard drive to locate lost information. These are safe and non-destructive because of their read-only design.
